I bet some of you are wondering what’s up with all the pop culture and pop politics stuff lately. Well, here in The States we’re gearing up for midterm elections this November and during this month an American pop antihero releases his much anticipated fifth studio album. You may think these two items make for strange bedfellows, but just look at the American news media and you’ll see that these two actually get along quite nicely. When you pop on th news these days stories about Lindsey Lohan follow stories about political sex scandals. If you pay close attention you may even catch something about those two wars going on overseas. It is nothing but a mash-up of pop culture and pop politics. I’m just saying that even within what seems to be superficial there is a whole lotta depth.
For many years I avoided the pop bandwagon to go off and see what else was out there. I just grew tired of being told what to like. When I ventured out I was amazed by the scope and cross-cultural influences I discovered. I fell in love with the alternative and turned my back completely on the pop world. This alternative world seemed to get me in ways I didn’t get myself. Finally. Peace. A place to rest my head…
But then something strange happened. The pop world started looking peculiar, almost alien, just as the alternative world once appeared. I started paying attention. I made friends (didn’t have many before). I danced in night clubs. I had a good time. Now I feel like the : of a pop/alternative ratio and I really dig that place. It feels like I barely exist and that I can like what “I” like no matter what “you” or “they” say. But, I do care what you feel that’s why I’m paying close attention to these trends, these pop ebbs and flows. I don’t want to know or feel, I just want to know why we feel what we feel while feeling it. Yeah, that was cumbersome, but these words of ours are severely limited in what they can express. I try my hardest to put them together in a way that you will pay attention to, but so far no good and this pains me, I cannot lie. If you could see what’s behind this collection of ones and zeros I am certain you would be amazed, but I will not beg you to read my ramblings. I am blessed just to have a couple of regulars who drop by on occasion. Thanks guys. You truly do not know how much your comments mean to me and because of you I’ll keep forging on. I have no choice but to and although some of you may not understand one word on this blog I’m certain you all understand that. Peace.

Okay, no more beating myself up or general negativity. If I’m going crazy then so be it, I’ll just make sure I’m strapped in for the ride.

I figured it out. I’m slowly losing my mind and this blog is detailing just exactly how I will get there. So if that’s the case why the @#$% do I keep posting this convoluted nonsense? BECAUSE I CAN’T EFFIN’ HELP IT!!!! I’m going mad. No, scratch that, I am mad going madder. This stuff refuses to leave me alone, but I can’t complain because the thoughts that find their way on this blog actually keep me company. Without them I would have thrown myself off an overpass long ago, but ironically it is these same thoughts that may send me off that overpass tomorrow.
Okay, enough whining.

Don’t have a regular internet connection. Posting from bookstores and other random locations now. Not that anyone is reading this garbage. I write this stuff because I have to. Can’t explain it any better than that.

Just to reiterate, I do not belong to any group. I am not a Christian, a Buddhist, a Muslim, a secular humanist, an intelligent designer, a Creationist, a Jew or an Atheist. The only thing I believe in is wonder and how evolution shows us the practicality of wonder. Really, I am just a guy who enjoys looking at things a little differently. I love asking the universe questions and then waiting for answers. Some people refer to this as prayer, others meditation. I don’t call it anything. And no I don’t hear voices in my head or anything like that. If you want to know something just ask and then quietly listen. The answer may take seconds, days, years, a lifetime or it may miss you completely, but it will be answered. Just read the ‘Meaning of it All’ post if this sounds confusing.
If you need to place me in a box try the crazy one. I seem to be hearing a lot of that lately. I can dig it though. If crazy is not enough might I suggest kook, nutjob or full-of-it. Once again, don’t mind. Do what you must, just have fun with the articles if you so choose to read them.
Sincerely,

I write in a “hey isn’t it cool” colloquial style that some may find aggravating. I do this because a lot of this stuff comes to me as I write it. As a result I am constantly going back and revising posts when new ideas suddenly come to me. One of these days I may get all Dickensian on that ass, but for now I’m having too much fun just shooting the breeze. I hope you are as well. That’s the whole point of this mess. Well that and to get you thinking a little postmodernly.

Blogging is like masturbating behind a tinted window. I’m not going to explain, just think about it.

Firstly, I find it quite hilarious that I title this section of the blog “Letter to Readers” when I don’t really have any regulars. I should change the title to “Letter to Myself and a couple Random Passersby.” Okay, enough of that. I really need to stop beating myself up.
I am a non-theist former atheist. Some call that agnosticism, but I’m just naturally long-winded so I prefer the former. The reason I came out of atheism was due to the fact that I could no longer jive with telling the theists that what they believe is nonsense. The reason I cannot jive one-hundred percent with “some” theists is because they judge the atheist harshly for what he or she doesn’t believe. I wanted to find a happy medium where I could park my car for a bit. The sheer expanding mess that is this blog is the result.
The atheist cannot comprehensively explain to the person of faith why he does not believe and the person of faith cannot comprehensively explain to the atheist why he does. But if they pause and ask each other a few questions they might be able meet in the middle.
The ironic thing is that when I express my ideas to a person of faith they balk, the atheist does as well. One will usually draw from a religious text to debunk my theories and the other will look to science. My argument is that you cannot really be too confident about either so why don’t the theist and the atheist attempt to meet at the house of the agnostic who lives in between them? The theist can bring the chips, the atheist some cold beverages and the agnostic will wait impatiently wondering if either will even show up before he dies.

Hey folks, getting a little more traffic around here. Just want to say thanks. I really appreciate it. Let’s see, what else is new? Still crazy, getting a little better at proof-reading. Matter of fact I’ve been going through a lot of these posts and fixing little niggling issues. Sometimes when I reread them I have no idea what in the hell I was talking about.

Still not proof-reading like I should. Damn brain moves faster than I can type. Just want to say thanks for stopping by and having a little fun with me. One thing dawned on me today…I’m freakin’ crazy!! But I love it! I love all of these crazy ideas because without crazy ideas we wouldn’t have crazy things like these very computers we use to break through all sorts of relativity. At any rate, just have fun with life and love each other when you can. If you have a hard time doing that, you’re not alone. Most of us do. We just have to find each other and make it a little easier.
Sincerely,

My apologies everyone. I had to go through and clean up some of these posts. I tend to write ridiculously fast so errors are inevitable. Maybe I should proofread these before posting. Yeah, that’s a novel idea. Once again my apologies. I hope some of the missing letters didn’t completely throw anyone off the point.

Your site is very interesting. I’ve been digging around a bit. I particularly like the “Letter to Readers.” I understand where you are coming from in that you just have to write this blog, you have to get the thoughts out. I am the same, but we are also very different. I think the way your mind works is awesome – keep it up!
Hey, like you I have no choice but to keep it up! Thanks for the kind words, you don’t know how much they mean to me.
O.K. I just found you while lurking at Current. Like your rants, musings, etc. Look forward to visiting you on a regular basis. Peace.
“Like your rants, musings, etc.”
Thanks a lot Mark. You definitely get me. That’s all I do here is rant and muse and sometimes I et cetera.
