The Universe’s Flesh and Bones

The universe’s flesh is relative diversity which consists of our creations, feats of engineering like planes, trains and automobiles as well as natural wonders like rain, grain and harbor seals.

The bones are the laws of physics which dictate how this diversity behaves. No matter how different a bird is from a jellyfish they both must respect these laws. The same way your flesh cannot operate independent of your bones, relative diversity cannot operate independent of these laws. And that’s it.

Wait, what about about our laws? Thou shalt not kill and all that jazz.

Damn it, I thought I was gonna be in-and-out with this one. Come on in, I’ll make it quick. Okay Mel, that’s your cue.

All right, here we go. This is gonna be like a marathon, but I’m game.

You shall have no other Gods before me
Can’t, there’s only one set of physical laws. Now some may think since there is one set of rules that means there is only one God. Remember these laws affect matter in different but relatively similar ways. A cloud forms from seeming nothing, remains dense for a spell, then vaporizes much like we do. Just think about it like a sprint. All of the racers are headed for the same goal, some get there faster than others, but they all get there. The war between monotheism and polytheism is a bit ridiculous as the universe shows you how both can exist in the same place because it thrives off of infinite relative diversity.

You shall not worship idols
This is kind of what we’re doing now. If we ever want to move into another one of those ages of enlightenment we hear so much about we’re going to have to start dropping all of this fearful nonsense and look around us for solutions to our problems. The universe is full of hints on how to do this. We just have to pay attention. I know it’s hard to do. Every time you flip on the TV somebody’s telling you there’s something new to fear.

You shall not misuse the name of God
Can’t really do that. Physics are a pretty rigid set of rules. When we try to work against them we mess ourselves up pretty bad.

Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy
We try, boy do we try. This refers to the “rest” or illusory present state. We look at all of the diverse life and objects around us and seldom do we appreciate all of the hard work evolution put into shaping them into their current forms. Look at us, we haven’t always looked the way we do. Our current form is the result of evolution just like everything else. Evolution needn’t scare anyone, it’s just an infinite process of creation. Even though we think things have settle everything is still evolving. Right now, you are growing older every fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of second. Time cannot be parsed down to nothing so even within one second exists infinity. Yeah, the universe is pretty awesome.

Our complacency comes from the fact that we exist in an eternal state of the present. We never travel back to the past or into the future because the past was once ‘right now’ and the future will be as well (our brains are like the sun that time orbits). To ‘honor’ this we need to cut the BS and start working together so that future ‘right nows’ are pleasant or ‘holy’ if you prefer that word. Think about that the next time you’re at your church, temple, mosque or synagogue. All I’m trying to do folks is show you that the stuff you believe in is literal and because it is it’s actually a lot more majestic than you once thought.

Honor your father and mother
Simple enough. These are the people who get you ready to face the world. They assist you during the early stages of your evolution so that when you get out there on your own you only have to put up with them during holidays. The same philosophy can be applied to our planet or for that matter the entire universe. The fact that gender is tenuous at best means you can really throw out the silly gender roles and simply just honor your ‘parents.’

You shall not murder
Of course not. Murder leads to painful evolutions. Plus, since so much work goes into creating this illusion we might as well let each other enjoy it to its fullest.

You shall not commit adultery
The painful evolution thing again.

You shall not steal
Same deal.

You shall not lie

You shall not covet
The painful evolution bit can be tied to this too, but read this to get a better understanding of why this is such a big no-no.

You come across as arrogant & narcissistic; that’s a comment not an insult. It makes me not want to read your blog even though you’re content is interesting. Smart but lacking humility is average. You’re too interesting for that in my opinion. Try expanding.

Oh, I’m terribly sorry C.M.C. I’m actually far from any of those things. You may be reading the humor as arrogant and narcissistic. I was actually a little stunned by the accusation because when I started to devise these ideas I felt incredibly humbled. I went from being a misanthrope to loving humanity and the universe and everything else.

But I’ll keep your words in mind, thanks for the input.

For a little bit on what I’m about click here. And if you want a rundown of the blog sans snarkiness give this link a look. Once again thanks for the constructive criticism.
